The XMM Galactic Center Survey
Abstract
I will present the deepest XMM-Newton three colour mosaic maps of the central 1.5 degrees of the Galaxy. Newly discovered extended features, such as supernova remnants, superbubbles and X-ray filaments will be presented and an atlas of extended features within ±1 degree of Sgr A⋆ will be introduced. I will also discuss the discovery of a coherent X-ray emitting region, and a new candidate superbubble, peaking around G0.1-0.1. Finally I will discuss the discovery of warm plasma at high Galactic latitude, likely associated with an inhomogeneous hot 'atmosphere' over the GC, perhaps fed by continuous or episodic outflows of mass and energy from the central few parsecs.
